Int'l Production: Shooting Video/Stills in Brazil & Argentina for American Airlines (with Prod Co CANADA!)

Updated: Jan 31

For the first large American Airlines brand campaign since before the pandemic, and the first large production for Walton Isaacson as AOR for the company... we were off to South America to help leverage client assets/needs and diverse resources.

The shoot included both two flagship commercial spots, as well as a large still photography component while working in concert with the client and international AA teams. We were able to take advantage of the airlines own maintenance hangar at GRU in Sao Paulo, Brazil to shoot onboard aircraft and we shot Admiral's Lounge sequences there as well. From there, we traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina which had the ability to "play" the many different types of destinations needed to quickly signal "global travel" for both the video and stills.

In the months leading up to production, there was extensive work planning around limited time with aircraft availability, numerous security procedures (including airport, customs and Federal Police clearances), dozens of locations across video and stills in Buenos Aires, and casting from three different countries. Overall, Walton Isaacson partnered the client with international production company CANADA (Dir: Tino), and we utilized Stink Films (Brazil) and Labhouse (Argentina) as local service providers for video. Editorial was produced by myself with our in-house cutter (Jaime Valdueza) and Bill Reilly/Flawless Post provided post services across sound, color, vfx and finishing. For stills, we partnered with the company Rocket to the Moon and photographer Lucila Blumencweig.
